How to reduce the waist on your jeans
Have you ever found the perfect wash, style and type of jeans but when you try them on you realize they do not fit perfectly? If you bought a pair of jeans and you lose weight or they do not fit as you wish, we will show you how to reduce the waist so you can modify them and feel comfortable and look good on them.
“Jeans are basic for women and men, they are modern, easy to combine and they are very comfortable once you have found the perfect pair for you”, said Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim.
Here are the steps to follow to reduce the waist on your jeans:
- Put on your jeans to determine how much excess fabric they have.
- Adjust the jeans until you feel they fit well and put on pins on the back of the waist.
- Remove the central part of the waist of your jeans with a sewing opener.
Make a straight cut with the scissors through the waist.
Determine the amount of fabric you will take from each side.
Sew the adjusted waist together.
Try on your modified jeans to see how good they fit on you now.
When you adjust a pair of jeans, you should make sure the seams are strong, so they would resist the new modifications.
If you do not feel safe using a sewing machine, you can also hand sewing your jeans, as some needles are not resistant enough for all type of jeans, depending on the denim’s composition.
“It is easy to find the perfect pair of jeans when going on shopping them, and if you find the perfect ones but they do not perfectly fit on you, you can always make some small modifications on them, that is a great advantage of denim clothes”, added Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal.
