Denim ‘boom’ hits the industry and speeds a million dollar business
Since James Dean or Marlon Brando to Barak Obama or Mark Zuckerberg. Cowboys jeans have survived the latest fashion trending of the last decades, until this become a new basic on your closet. But, suddenly, denim is on the front page: celebrities like Alexa Chung or Rita Ora dress up all over in denim. What is causing this boom on the industry?
Cotton price that reached historical increases on 2011, is now on the minimums. The general fall of the goods and specially oil, hit the price on the polyester, the most useful fiber on the fashion industry.
Denim is taking over the storefront and drives a business of 55.000 million if dollars. On 2011, the increase on the cotton prices increase the production of polyester and acrylic garments; but nowadays, the prices fall is not enough to express the boom that the denim is living.
Markets are projecting that the millennial gen, between 18 & 34 years old, will be the principal buyers of the jeans.
At this moment, there’s a huge influence of indigo that are making us seeing the denim, casual fashion, elastic embroideries, clean cuts and supersized bodies. The most sophisticated denim inspiration was taken from ethnic and globetrotter inspiration.
According to the trending experts, the new developments between brands and fabric mills will be on the stores real soon and will continue ruling the industry on a long term.
Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim, said that the new companies are looking forward to see more ecological tints and natural compositions. “ Companies need to go green in the present, this is why everybody is looking for new raw materials that are biodegradable in order to help the companies to minimize its foot print on the planet”, said Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal.
